planet stitch
planet suspended.
my well intentioned attempt to provide a live-journal style “friends” page was interpreted by some as copyright violation. i didn’t believe at the time that i was flouting copyright. i ensured that every item was credited and linked to the authoring blog. i never made any claims of authorship for any entry and the page was clearly headed as a compilation of recent posts from my personal favourites. neither did i receive any benefit from the page - i run no ads and the page was completely insignificant in drawing traffic to this site.
my intention was very simply to provide a more user-friendly alternative to a blogroll in order to drive traffic towards those blogs, as detailed in my original post when we set the planet up.
legality aside, i have always been happy to respect the wishes of anyone who did not wish to be included, for whatever reason. with the benefit of hindsight, to avoid any misunderstanding or bad feeling, i would have run the planet on an opt-in basis. if i decide to bring it back it will be opt-in.
as is now customary this is where we have the babies sucking lemons.
